My favourite Releases On Obsolete Formats in 2010

by Listicles
1.Dead Farmers - Go Home (LP)
Awesome psych-garage rock from sydney, just the maddest shit you will hear all year. remember when you thought air-drumming was for tools? well you were right, but listen to this and you will become that tool.
myspace

2.Boomgates - Bright Idea (7" single)
Some real poppy shit from members of some of melbournes greatest punky bands, gets stuck in your head like a tumour.
myspace

3.Constant Mongrel - S/T(Cassette)
A two piece that is now the coolest on the planet now that jack white makes ears bleed in his shit band with the girl from the kills. Seriously awesome reverbed up punx from smellbourne.

4.Ty Segall - Melted (LP)
Fucking wierd surfy garage punk from San Fran in the states, dude hangs out heaps with thee oh sees if that helps. catchy like genital warts, but better, trust me.
myspace

5.Bed Wettin' Bad Boys - Best/Worst Band In Sydney (7" single)
Anyone who calls themselves both the best and worst band in sydney on their debut single is ok in my books. the ultimate party starter, or finisher. depends on what type of party your having.
myspace

6.The UV Race - I Hate You (7" single)
The most primitive band i have heard in a while, batshit crazy but amazingly catchy and powerful. find everysong they have ever played and listen to it on loop.
myspace

7.Royal Headache - S/T (7" single)
Fuck this list is long. Anyway royal headache are the coolest "rock n soul" band kicking around. cannot wait for their album to come out soon. live shows are off the charts.
myspace

8.Assassins 88 - Go Go Second Chance Virgin (Cassette)
The recordings of this drums and bass combo from canberra are pushed so far into the red it is hard to tell anything about the songs except they are catchy as fuck. The drummer sings with a microphone duct-taped into his mouth. pure rawk

9.Total Control - Paranoid Video
synth punk, wassup? seriously the coldest and coolest song released this year (gettit?)

10.Ooga Booga's - Sentimental Stranger (7" single)
These doods rule. this song is awesome and is backed by a cover of Ëisbar, a song about polar bears. sick shit

The Wonderful Music of the Suzuki Omnichord (2ser 107.3fm)

The amazing Suzuki Omnichord, a form of electric autoharp, has taken popular music by storm. Everyone from Bob Dylan to The Yeah Yeah Yeahs have got their hands on one. With a learning curve of around 5 minutes, you too can become the next aspiring omnichord musician! Here is a list of just some of the great omnichord songs to get you inspired.

1. Jenny Lewis – You Are What You Love (featured on 2ser 107.3)

2. My Morning Jacket – Anytime (Live Version) (featured on 2ser 107.3)

3. Gorillaz – Clint Eastwood

Not the most obvious use of the omnichord, but the entire backing track to the song samples a preset rhythm loop found in the omnichord.

4. sELF - Black In Back (AC/DC Cover)

Drums and omnichord at the same time? Whatevs?

5. Devo – Patterns

The 1982 track has to be one of the first to take advantage of the omnichord, which was first released the year before in 1981.

6. Grizzly Bear – Ready, Able

Jermaine Clement of 'Flight of The Concords' reportedly has the largest omnichord collection in the world.

7. Flight Of The Conchords – Carol Brown (featured on 2ser 107.3)

8. The Mae Shi – Remarkably Dirty Animals

9. Arcade Fire - Ocean of Noise

Jenny Omnichord loves the omnichord so much she dedicated her musical career to it.

10. Jenny Ommichord - Do You Know Karate feat. Tony Dekker

Movember Edition: Ten Songs Written By Men With Magical Moustaches (2ser 107.3fm)

The very first list to be featured on 2ser 107.3fm's Tuesday Daily show. How very very exciting!

As we get deep into Movember, I thought it would be a good idea to highlight the songs written by those men with wonderful moustaches. I have been a long time believer that having facial hair really improves your song writing abilities. This list tries to prove just that. Enjoy....

1. The Low Anthem – To Ohio (Featured On Air)

Zapp & Roger: The one female band member (bottom right) must have felt a bit left out.

2. Zapp & Roger - I Can Make You Dance (Featured On Air)

Will Oldham's somewhat creepy stache has helped him write many a beautiful song.

3. Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy – Cursed Sleep
4. Stevie Wonder - Master Blaster (Jammin')

Eugene Hütz of Gogol Bordello: Moustache and Gypsy-punk go hand in hand.

5. Gogel Bordello – Start Wearing Purple (Featured On Air)
6. Queen – Crazy Little Thing Called Love
7. The Beatles – Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds
8. Rick James – Superfreak
9. James Brown – The Payback

10. Nick Cave And The Bad Seeds – Dig, Lazarus, Dig!!! (Featured on Air)
